In the Bachelor of Information Technology (Cyber and Network Security) you will acquire the technical skills needed to work as a cyber-security specialist in the fast-growing and dynamic IT industry. Learn to protect data and information, develop solutions for the control and protection against cybercrime and use innovative technologies to manage cyber security threats.
Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Apply a wide range of knowledge in information and communication technology, particularly the practical application and theoretical frameworks of cyber and network security
Develop and apply problem-solving and decision-making skills to solve cyber and network security problems in complex environments
Conduct ICT research in the area of cyber and network security, including evaluating new information and technologies from a range of sources
Effectively communicate ideas and information about cyber and network security to various audiences
Collaborate ethically, professionally and responsibly as an ICT cyber and network security professional in a range of environments
Adapt to the rapidly evolving changes and practices in technology and the ICT industry
Develop specialist skills to gain an advantage in the job market
Graduate with a bachelor's degree
The skills and knowledge to gain employment in the industry as a network security specialist in a fast-growing and dynamic industry
The ability to sit for recognised industry certifications such as Cisco, CCNA and CCNP
An extensive range of established industry contacts and a strong network of peers
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
A NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent as evidenced by a certified copy of your certificate or transcript OR
A Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or its equivalent as evidenced by a certified copy of your certificate or transcript OR
A completed certificate IV or higher vocational qualification as evidenced by a certified copy of your certificate or transcript
Submit a 500-word essay that shows your motivation to study and work in the information technology industry
Attend a pre-admission interview where you may also be asked to complete a short literacy and numeracy task - this helps us to understand how we can support your study success and provide you with any necessary support
Have mathematics knowledge to HSC level or equivalent before entering this course, or you may be required to undertake a bridging program or preparatory course
Your certificates, transcripts and other entry requirement evidence must be certified through a Justice of the Peace or other authorising officer

A strong interest in information technology and cyber security
Computer and digital literacy
A background in Information technology
You do not require an ATAR score for entry into this course.
