Problem solve on magnetic and electromagnetic devices, single path circuits, low voltage a.c. circuits, direct current machines and multiple path circuits
Fit, assemble, erect, manufacture, operate, test, fault find, repair and alter electrical equipment
Apply environmental and sustainable practices
Follow work health and safety practices

Entry requirements
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
Employment in the electrotechnology industry, as evidenced by a letter from your employer
Completion requirements
During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
A general construction induction card (commonly known as a white card). You will need this before you can enter a construction site.
Entry recommendations
To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
A reasonable level of fitness to complete the demands of the role, including bending, kneeling and standing
Confidence working at heights and in confined spaces
Some experience in handling tools and equipment
Good organisational skills and the ability to multi-task
The ability to problem solve
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) at a Year 10 high school level

This skills test helps us to understand your individual study needs, to design an individualised plan that supports your study success and ensures your LLN skills match the demands of the course.

Licensing
Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this qualification can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors. A restricted electrical licence is mandatory for the performance of any disconnect/reconnect work in New South Wales. Refer to NSW Fair Trading licensing requirements and guidelines before applying to study this qualification

UnitsUnits taught in this course
Courses are made up of a combination of both core and specialty units. In the Certificate III in Electrical Fitting qualification, you’ll need to successfully complete 1060 Units of competency, including 810 core and 250 speciality units.
Please note, not all specialty units are offered at every TAFE NSW location. It is highly recommended that you check with your preferred campus for information about the specialty units offered at that location.
