    Equip yourself with specialist skills and the confidence to work safely in confined spaces. Gain firsthand experience and acquire the basics to recognise and control potential risks and hazards and to apply this safety training in various industries.

    Learning outcomes

    Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:

    • Enter, work in and exit confined spaces

    • Maintain communication with stand-by personnel

    • Place and use rescue equipment and secure access to the confined space

    • Use electronic test apparatus to test working atmospheres

    • Select, wear and care for your personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • A nationally accredited Statement of Attainment

    • Confidence to use equipment such as atmospheric monitoring devices before and during the confined space work activity, and applying tagging and lockout

    This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol

    • Please enquire at your preferred campus location for any campus-specific entry requirements. Some campuses will require a white card as a condition of enrolment.

    To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:

    • The ability to work comfortably in confined spaces

    • A concern for safety

    • Good communication skills

    • An ability to work with a team

    • Intermediate fitness in handling tools and equipment, and in handling the physical demands of the job

    • Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask and respond well to rapid change
