Support the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities and help to facilitate social change when you study the Bachelor of Community Services. This online degree will prepare you for a career in the diverse community services industry. You’ll be qualified to manage a range of responsibilities while helping people who are disadvantaged and highly vulnerable.
If you're driven to empower diverse communities, are passionate about social justice and want to challenge the social structures that maintain disadvantage, then this qualification can help you achieve your goals. Graduates from this course of study are not eligible to register with the Australian Association of Social Workers on the basis of this qualification alone.

Learning outcomes
Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Use models, theories and methods of community services work interventions to help individuals and communities
Advocate for social action and social change
Generate, develop and analyse intervention strategies in community services delivery and practice
Provide specialist community coordination and service management based on research and evidence-based practice
Build your communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with different teams in the community services field and meet the needs of individuals, groups and communities
Apply problem-solving skills to new and complex situations in community services practices
Course outcomes

Graduate with a Bachelor Degree (AQF 7)
Four hundred hours of practical experience in the workplace
The skills and confidence to effectively work with diverse teams, individual clients, groups and communities
Experience in advocating and implementing social action and change

Entry requirements
This course requires evidence of previous experience or study before you can enrol
You must demonstrate that you have achieved one of the following:
A NSW Higher School Certificate (HSC) or its equivalent OR
A Certificate IV in Tertiary Preparation or its equivalent OR
A completed certificate IV or higher vocational qualification OR
Successful completion of at least one year full-time (or equivalent) study in a course at a higher education institution
Note:
Your certificates, transcripts and other entry requirement evidence must be certified through a Justice of the Peace or other authorising officer
Completion requirements
During your study you’ll need to provide your teacher with the following evidence:
A Working with Children Check (WWCC)
A National Police Check
Any additional evidence your work placement provider requires

To be prepared for this course, we recommend that you have:
A strong commitment to human rights, diversity, advocacy, social justice, inclusion, collaboration, equity, First Nations' self-determination, anti-oppressive practice and social change
Flexibility to study online, with the knowledge that this will require independent learning skills
The capacity to apply higher education study skills that include: academic integrity, time management, organisation, self-directed learning, being an active member of an online learning community and using a range of online technologies
You do not require an ATAR score for entry into this course.
