This 1 unit course is designed to complement your professional skillset. You'll gain the necessary qualification required to step onto sites deemed a fireground by the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) and carry out a range of support services.
Through a mixture of theory and practical course work, learn to:
Initiate appropriate safety precautions and actions
Implement different firefighting strategies and techniques
Identify the environmental and physical hazards of a wildfire, and how to work safely with them
Use the correct terminology to communicate and understand briefings
Correctly identify and implement relevant survival techniques
Gain practical experience and develop specialist skills that give you an advantage in the job market.

Wildfire awareness training is required for anyone who needs to access an active fireground. This can include media personal, NGO workers, SES and WIRES volunteers and others. Visit the Rural Fire Service website for more information.
