Navigating the challenges of data privacy in the online world will soon become easier thanks to a leading cyber security course offered at TAFE NSW.

The Statement of Attainment in Introduction to Cyber Security offered at NSW TAFE Mount Druitt for the first time, will address the skills shortage in the IT industry by equipping people and professionals alike with job ready skills to protect data from cyberattacks in the workplace.

Over eighty per cent of Australian IT professionals agree there is a shortage of cybersecurity skills, which is set to cost Australian businesses up to $29 billion a year in cybersecurity incidents.[1]

The 12 hour course delivered across four weeks will provide students with best practice in protecting data and privacy when using social media as well as protecting organisations from malware and attacks.

Head Teacher of Information Technology at TAFE NSW, Payal Gupta, said the course is specifically designed for job seekers wanting practical training for a career in the ICT industry and IT workers looking to upskill in the areas of emerging cloud technology.

“The course will explore cyber trends and threats as well as navigate the challenges companies, government and educational institutions face in protecting their privacy in the online environment.

“People studying the course will learn how to install, configure and test networking security and provide basic administration.”
