TAFE NSW Bega is partnering with local organisations to host a special event this month to highlight growing job opportunities in the local caring industry.

Jobs for the Bega Valley, to be held at TAFE NSW Bega’s Multi Trades Hub on 27 October from 10am, will bring together a number of local aged care and disability organisations and give jobseekers an insight into the wide range of positions available in the caring industry.

TAFE NSW Team Leader for Ageing and Disability Michelle Watters said Jobs for the Bega Valley would be a relaxed morning tea event helping locals get a running start into the aged care or disability industry.

“These industries are absolutely booming at the moment and TAFE NSW students routinely get employed before even graduating, which means they earn while they learn,” Ms Watters said.

“There is such a wide variety of jobs available and you’re making a tangible difference in a person’s life, which is very satisfying.”

Ms Watters said the Certificate III in Individual Support for ageing and disability were being offered fee-free under JobTrainer and provided flexible study options.

She said TAFE NSW teachers and local employers would be on hand for the event to answer locals’ questions and help guide them on a pathway to a rewarding career.

One of the many organisations set to attend is Sapphire Coast Community Aged Care, with CEO Matt Sierp saying there was never a better time to enter the industry.

“We are in urgent need of skilled staff to address a growing need for aged care and that means the employment prospects for locals is huge,” Mr Sierp said.

“We are proud to be working with TAFE NSW to offer training opportunities that lead to employment.

“People that work in our industry love what they do because they know they’re giving dignity to elderly citizens who have served our country and made it what it is today. We are committed to continuing that and working with locals to support locals.”

Jobs for Bega Valley will run from 10am to 11.30am on Thursday, 22 September at Barracks Restaurant at TAFE NSW Bega Multi Trades Hub in Auckland Street. Locals are welcome to simply turn up on the day or pre-register for catering purposes at www.forms.office.com/r/jBMk3TpWhN.
