Four new Diploma courses will be offered at TAFE NSW Liverpool for the first time in 2022 to meet demand for skilled workers in the local health and community services industry.
The Diploma courses offer pathways into employment or tertiary education in Liverpool’s largest jobs sector of health care and social assistance, which employs 15.4 per cent of residents.
The move to launch new courses comes after extensive consultation with industry partners throughout Liverpool, which is home to NSW’s largest hospital. The courses – a Diploma of Community Services, Diploma of Mental Health, Diploma of Counselling, and Diploma of Youth Work – will support the growing health precinct around the hospital.
TAFE NSW Head of Skills Team for Health, Wellbeing and Community Services in Western Sydney, Anne Goonetilleke, said TAFE NSW had a proven track record of responding to emerging skills needs.
“These courses are a great opportunity for local people to gain relevant skills for rewarding local employment. We identified 16 non-clinical service providers within the health precinct that would benefit from having a pipeline of skilled workers,” Ms Goonetilleke said.
“These courses will be blended delivery with virtual classes and face-to-face learning components delivered at TAFE NSW Liverpool, allowing people to study around other life or work commitments.”
The four new Diploma courses at TAFE NSW Liverpool commence in early February. For more information visit www.tafensw.edu.au or phone 131 601.
