One hundred new forklift licences have been granted to eager operators at Deniliquin TAFE, in the Riverina.
The training was specially provided by the Campus as the result of a funding opportunity from TAFE NSW that targeted specific skill sets. The forklift licence course lasted for three days and covered both practical and theoretical aspects of operating a forklift in a commercial or industrial setting. The training also covered units in spreadsheets, report writing and working in confined spaces.
"Many hours of training has been occurring at the TAFE NSW Deniliquin Campus," Shandra Simpson, TAFE NSW Riverina Institute Workforce Community Development Manager told the Deniliquin Pastoral Times. "The extra funding has allowed participants to be trained in areas that were not always easy to access due to numbers and affordability."
It's hoped that the attainment of a forklift licence will open many employment opportunities for the course participants.
