The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) equips you with the skills and knowledge to pursue a career in the information technology industry.
In this exciting course, you'll work on projects like building networks, using routers and switches, configuring computers, setting up network connections, including cloud services, and troubleshooting activities.
The Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) will provide you with the fundamental knowledge and skills required in the networking field to set you up for success.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Academic Requirements:
- Year 12 or equivalent
English Language Requirements:
- Academic IELTS 6.0 (with no individual band less than 5.5) or equivalent
Additional Requirements:Applicants seeking direct entry into Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) are required to demonstrate an understanding of basic network protocols and security, hardware components, being able to run standard diagnostic tests and being able to install and optimise an operating system. These can be demonstrated by:
- Prior completion of Certificate III in Information Technology (Networking) or
- Prior completion of other relevant qualifications or work experience.
These students may be required to attend an Interview. The interview will be conducted online using Microsoft Teams
- Applicants who do not have the above stated qualification or experience will be required to study Certificate III in Information Technology (Networking) as a pre-requisite and will be issued with a package offer.
TAFE NSW makes every effort to ensure your Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) needs are met. The level of support you need may be assessed via a review of your LLN skills with written tasks and a one-on-one interview. If you need to strengthen your LLN skills, an individual training plan will be created with you.

The Diploma of Information Technology (Advanced Networking & Cloud Architecture) equips you with the practical skills and knowledge in two emerging areas of IT. This course aims to help you take your career to the next level in more senior network technician roles.
In this exciting course you will put your skills into practice in our virtual lab environments. You will also use industry standard technology to give you the skills and prepare you to work in the IT industry. You will design and develop network architecture, install, and configure advanced routers and switches and configure advanced virtual computing environments. You will also learn to build advanced cloud architecture applications.
