    When you study the Bachelor of Applied Commerce majoring in Financial Planning, you'll build the practical skills, confidence and connections to thrive in your financial planning career. Whether you’re interested in becoming a financial planner or associate, a specialist financial adviser, or a client service manager, this course provides a pathway to a wide range of industries and experiences.
    You’ll have the exciting opportunity to do a professional experience work placement during your course, which will give you practical experience in a workplace setting and help to establish valuable industry contacts.
    This practical course meets the minimum educational requirements for Financial Adviser Standards (FAS) set by the Australian Government Treasury (formerly set by the Financial Adviser Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA)).
    You’ll learn in small classes and benefit from TAFE NSW’s industry connections. When you graduate, you may be eligible to apply for professional membership to the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA). You may also be eligible to register to the Tax Practitioners’ Board (TPB) as a tax (financial) adviser.

    • The Bachelor of Applied Commerce majoring in Financial Planning is accredited by the Financial Advice Association Australia (FAAA).     Professional Experience Work Placement
    • Work placement provides you with opportunities to respond to situations and circumstances that cannot be replicated in a learning or simulated environment. Work placement strengthens your training and supports continued learning and assessment in the workplace. Work placement is a valuable part of your course.
    • During your course, you'll undertake 60 hours of mandatory work placement.
    • TAFE NSW will arrange your work placement with a suitable industry employer.

    Additional costs

    Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from $300 - $1,000 AUD per course.

    TAFE NSW has partnerships with a number of Australian universities. These universities offer guaranteed entry and credit transfer to eligible students. How much credit you are eligible for varies depending on the course and university you choose. You can apply for a Student Visa that will cover the duration of your study.


    Other university pathways

    You may gain entry to another university using your TAFE NSW qualifications. Acceptance and the amount of credit transfer may vary depending on the university and course studies. Check your credit eligibility.


    Keep learning with TAFE NSW

    Graduates of the Diploma of Applied Commerce (HE20515) will be entitled to credit for eight subjects in the Bachelor of Applied Commerce - Financial Planning Major and will be able to complete the degree in 2 years.

    Students who have completed the first year of the Bachelor of Business (HE20514) will be entitled to credit for four subjects in the Bachelor of Applied Commerce.

    You are able to package two or more TAFE NSW courses together. This means you can plan your studies to achieve your career goals. When you apply for a TAFE NSW vocational pathway, you can apply for a Student Visa that will cover the duration of your study.
