OverviewAbout this course

Learn about the renewable energy industry and how to design, develop and implement renewable energy systems and technologies to create a more sustainable future for ourselves and generations to come.

In the higher education Diploma of Renewable Energy Engineering, you’ll gain a broad understanding of the industry. You'll focus on key technologies in the renewable energy sector, their design and Australia’s transition into green energy. You’ll also learn about the foundations of engineering practices, energy storage systems and solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Build on your industry-targeted skills in maths, physics and Python programming.

Graduates of this course are eligible to apply for provisional Clean Energy Council (CEC) Grid-Connect Design Only accreditation.

    Learning Outcomes:
Through a mix of theory and practical course work, learn to:
    • Analyse and measure basic circuits using a variety of techniques
    • Design and apply Energy Storage Systems (Battery/Hydrogen/Pumped Hydro) in both renewable and non-renewable energy supply systems
    • Research, design and implement a grid connected solar PV system with energy storage
    • Produce basic AutoCAD (computer aided design) drawings for a large scale concept design project
    • Calculate energy output and monetary payback
    • Apply maths, physics and programming related to engineering Python programming
    • Follow and implement relevant health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) regulations
