OverviewAbout this course

    The Advanced Diploma of Marine Engineering (Class 1) - (Motor) will help you to develop the practical skills and in-depth knowledge required to perform various specialised tasks when working as an Engineer Class 1.

    Learn to plan and schedule operations and organise safe maintenance and repair procedures, and develop the skills necessary to operate and maintain electrical machinery, electronic control and engine equipment. You will also learn to manage the vessel's administration, including its business, legal and personnel aspects.

    This course has been designed specifically to help you meet the licensing requirements of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). While you will also need to meet other requirements, including sea time hours and medical requirements, this course provides you with the skills and knowledge necessary to be prepared.

    Structure and unitsWhat you will study

    At the start of your course, you will receive your timetable. You will need to study all core units and a range of additional units.


    Engineer Class 1 (Motor) = 14 units: 13 core units, plus one unit from Group A
