Academic Requirements:
- Year 12 or equivalent
English Language Requirements:
- Academic IELTS 6.0 (with no individual band less than 5.5) or equivalent
Additional Requirements:Applicants seeking direct entry into Certificate IV in Information Technology (Networking) are required to demonstrate an understanding of basic network protocols and security, hardware components, being able to run standard diagnostic tests and being able to install and optimise an operating system. These can be demonstrated by:
- Prior completion of Certificate III in Information Technology (Networking) or
- Prior completion of other relevant qualifications or work experience.
These students may be required to attend an Interview. The interview will be conducted online using Microsoft Teams
- Applicants who do not have the above stated qualification or experience will be required to study Certificate III in Information Technology (Networking) as a pre-requisite and will be issued with a package offer.
TAFE NSW makes every effort to ensure your Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) needs are met. The level of support you need may be assessed via a review of your LLN skills with written tasks and a one-on-one interview. If you need to strengthen your LLN skills, an individual training plan will be created with you.
To be prepared for this course, it is recommended that you have:

- A general understanding of computers
- Basic knowledge of using the internet
- Confidence in working with different software programs
- Access to a desktop PC, laptop or equivalent computing device and a strong internet connection

Structure and unitsWhat you will study
At the start of your course, you will receive your timetable. You will need to study all core units and a range of additional units.
7 core units plus 13 elective units, of which: At least 9 units must be selected from the elective units listed below up to 4 units may be selected from the remaining listed elective units or from this or any other currently endorsed training package qualification.
