    OverviewAbout this course

    The Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management at TAFE NSW prepares you for senior management roles in the hospitality industry.

    Strengthen your leadership skills and business capabilities so you can open your own business or step up into roles like operations manager, club secretary or manager, café manager or executive chef. With a combination of practical experience and the latest industry knowledge, this course will give you the skills you need to succeed in one of the world’s largest and fastest growing industries.

    Practical training covering hospitality will be provided in 36 sessions (Approx.144 hours) as an integrated part of your studies. Training will be provided within a TAFE NSW operated restaurant at your enrolment location’.

    Additional costs

    Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from $300 - $1,000 AUD per course.

    Structure and unitsWhat you will study

    At the start of your course, you will receive your timetable. You will need to study all core units and a range of additional units.


    14 core units 19 elective units, consisting of:1 unit from Group A,1 unit from Group B,11 units from Group C, 6 units from Group C, Group D, elsewhere in the SIT Training Package, or any other current Training Package or accredited course.

    Other university pathways

    You may gain entry to another university using your TAFE NSW qualifications. Acceptance and the amount of credit transfer may vary depending on the university and course studies. Check your credit eligibility.

    At TAFE NSW Ryde and Ultimo:

    • If you apply for a package of Certificate IV Kitchen Management (1 year) and Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management then you will receive 6 months credit towards the Advanced Diploma, hence the Diploma duration will be reduced to 1 year. (Package Duration: 2 years)

    You are able to package two or more TAFE NSW courses together. This means you can plan your studies to achieve your career goals. When you apply for a TAFE NSW vocational pathway, you can apply for a Student Visa that will cover the duration of your study.
