    The Certificate III in Hairdressing will give you the essential skills and knowledge you need to become a hairdresser or hair stylist. You will learn how to cut, colour, chemically treat hair to create styles your clients will love.

    At TAFE NSW you will train with industry professionals and practice your skills in workshops and a simulated salon environment. You will also learn about client communication and service delivery. This includes how to discuss the needs of your client and style their hair according to their requirements.

    Graduate with practical experience, the ability to communicate with a range of different people and the most up to date industry knowledge. You will graduate with a highly respected TAFE NSW hairdressing qualification.

    Additional costs

    Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from $300 - $1,000 AUD per course.

    Structure and unitsWhat you will study

    At the start of your course, you will receive your timetable. You will need to study all core units and a range of additional units.


    Total of 28 units must be completed: 21 core units & 7 electives consisting of: All 3 units from Group A or all 3 units from Group B 4 units from Group C The selection of electives chosen for this stream is based on extensive industry consultation, job outcomes sought, local industry requirements and the complexity of skills appropriate to the level of this qualification.
