OverviewAbout this course

    Take centre stage when you study the Certificate III in Music (Performance). Gain a broad range of skills that build on your ability as an instrumentalist, vocalist or composer/songwriter. You will also get an introduction to the structure of the music industry including different job roles, music genres and copyright.
    In this course you will learn to prepare and perform musical pieces. You'll gain the experience playing in a band and you'll learn to incorporate music technology into your performances. Develop and apply aural perception skills, musical notation skills and contribute to backup accompaniment as part of a group.
    During this course, you'll learn from music industry professionals with a wealth of experience and knowledge and gain a true insight into the music industry.

    Additional costs

    Additional costs for uniforms, equipment, textbooks and materials (if applicable) range from $300 - $1,000 AUD per course.

    Structure and unitsWhat you will study

    At the start of your course, you will receive your timetable. You will need to study all core units and a range of additional units.


    3 core units plus 8 elective units, of which: at least 6 must be from the elective units listed below, with no more than 2 of these units from Group E
    up to 2 may be from the listed elective units (with the exception of Group E) or from this or any currently endorsed training package qualification or accredited course.

    You may gain entry to another university using your TAFE NSW qualifications. Acceptance and the amount of credit transfer may vary depending on the university and course studies. Check your credit eligibility.
